We will observe birds in Leukerfeld that have returned early from their wintering grounds or are making a stopover on their migration north into the mountain regions.
The Stonechats should already be settled in their breeding area, and depending on the weather, some "mountain" species such as Wheatear or Whinchats "northern" species such as Willow Warblers or Yellow Wagtails rest near Leukerfeld on their migrations north. Sometimes rare Heron species are sighted near the water as well. These birds are occasionaly seen in large numbers, especially after a period of bad weather a so-called "migration jam", where meadows or fields are densely covered with waiting birds.
